Why it works

The job exists before the request does.

When a homeowner files a permit or buys a house, they have committed to spending money on home services. They have not called anyone yet. By the time a job appears on Angi, the homeowner decided, started asking around, and at least one contractor already has a relationship. Knock gives you the week before that.

1
A homeowner commits to a project
They file a permit or buy a house. Money is allocated. No contractor hired. No quotes requested.
2
Knock picks up the signal
Building permits and deed transfers. All public record. All scored and filtered for your trade and zip codes.
Knock surfaces it here
3
You reach out first
Send a postcard, make a call, knock on the door. You are the only contractor who knows about this job.
4
Everyone else finds out on Angi
A few weeks later the homeowner posts a request. Five contractors compete on price. You should already have the job.

What Knock monitors

Every public signal that a homeowner is about to spend money.

Every lead platform starts after the homeowner does. Knock starts before. We watch the signals that come before the decision, before the search, before Angi ever knows there is a job.

  • Building permits: homeowners who filed for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or landscaping work before hiring anyone
  • New homeowner moves: recent deed transfers in your zip codes. New owners almost always need your services within 90 days

All public record. All monitored automatically.

Questions

Straight answers.

How is this different from Angi?
Angi charges you per lead and sends the same lead to four other contractors at the same time. Knock gives you a list of addresses where no contractor has been yet. The difference is not price. It is timing.
Is it really free to start?
Early access members get their first month free when we launch. Join the waitlist and we will reach out with details before we go live.
Where does the data come from?
Public records. Building permit filings and county deed transfers. All of it is public. We pull it, filter it, score it, and put the relevant leads in your portal so you do not have to check a dozen city websites every week.
What does the portal actually show?
A short list. Hot leads at the top, act this week. Warm leads below, worth a postcard. Pipeline at the bottom, note for later. Each lead has an address, what is happening there, and one specific action. Takes under five minutes to review.
Do other contractors see the same leads?
No. Your portal is built for your trade and your zip codes. Two HVAC contractors in different parts of Sacramento see completely different leads.
Why not just check city permit websites myself?
You would need to check 10 to 15 portals, filter by trade keyword, cross-reference addresses, build your own scoring system, and do it every week before the window closes. That is three to four hours. Knock does it overnight.
